Paavo Järvi Conducts Premiere of Oriri at Pärnu Music Festival with Estonian Festival Orchestra

Oriri – World Premiere in Pärnu

On 20 July 2025, a new orchestral work by Elis Hallik will be premiered by the Estonian Festival Orchestra under the baton of Paavo Järvi at the Pärnu Concert Hall, as part of the Pärnu Music Festival.

Titled Oriri – from the Latin to rise, to be born – the work is conceived as an opening gesture. It unfolds over approximately ten minutes and is driven by the idea of emergence: from silence into motion, from stillness into breath. The music moves between fine textures and raw contrasts, balancing clarity with rhythmic impulse.

Oriri was written in close dialogue with the musicians of the Estonian Festival Orchestra and its artistic director, Paavo Järvi. Though compact in form, the piece carries a sense of arc and transformation, designed to open a concert space both atmospherically and energetically.

The premiere takes place within a programme that also includes Arvo Pärt’s Tabula rasa and Silhouette, and Stravinsky’s The Firebird suite
